The plain slightly tapering body applied with trailing flowering branches with foliage, the scroll handle with trailing leafy decoration over a wavy textured ground, on a spreading moulded base, the hinged domed cover with cast foliate open-work thumbpiece, chased with scrolls, flowers and rocaille ornament, 21cm wide, 16cm deep, 23cm high (8in wide, 6in deep, 9in high), weight 46 troy oz, weight 1,433gms.FootnotesA similar example also by Schiotling, 1767 was sold Christie's, Amsterdam, 3 December 1992, lot 1065.
