PENSE , within an elaborate cartouche flanked by fruiting orange trees in buckets and scrolling foliage, the reverse with diamond-engraved anniversary inscriptions, one calligraphic inscription with Ledig mij met blijden geest Op Oranies Jarig Feest , 'Empty me in joyful mood on the anniversary celebration of Orange', one Gothic inscription with Mensch tot heyl Van Neerlands Staat , 'Man to the good of the state of the Netherlands', one Roman inscription with Dat God hem lang leven laat , 'That God may let him live long', the lower part faceted, the multi-knopped stem enclosing an elongated tear, domed foot 22.6 cm. high
