A Continental porcelain brass-mounted wine barrel SECOND HALF OF THE 18TH CENTURY Naturalistically modelled, inspired by Meissen examples, outlined in gilt, the front with a grotesque bearded male mascaroon in relief enclosing a brass faucet, surrounded by grapes and other fruit, the sides with neoclassical musical trophies, the upper part with a wide circular aperture, on massive brass octagonal pedestal base, with a brass acorn cover (restored chips to mouth of the mascaroon, small chip to extremity of the beard), the porcelain possibly Capodimonte or Buen Retiro, the brass elements of a later date 37 cm. high (2)
