A Continental brass and steel triple fusee quarter-striking table clock with alarm and pull quarter repeat Probably Austro-German. Circa 1700 The dial plate of iron overlaid with a silvered copper/part brass plate engraved in the centre with delicate foliage and strapwork with central brass alarm disc, the applied chapter ring with Roman and Arabic engraved chapters and delicate pierced blued steel hands, silvered metal foliate spandrels, the movement of early Germanic construction with square-section brass columns to each angle secured with octagonal nuts, the three trains held within linear sub-plates, each train with spring barrels with pinned caps, chains and fusees, the going train with verge escapement mounted atop the plates and with later pendulum, the quarter train with countwheel planted on the backplate and striking on a bell raised on a brass platform above the plates, the hour train with countwheel planted on the backplate and strike on the largest bell within the bell gallery, the repeat system activated manually from either side on a pulley system with rack-and-pinion steel slide activating against the motionwork quarter wheel, the pull repeat struck on two further bells within the bell gallery above, the separate alarm assembly wound through the dial by chapter X with a separate sub-assembly and with clapper striking on the hour bell, the case with wrap-around brass panel with hinged glazed doors to the sides and solid brass back also fixed with two hoops for wall hanging, the moulded brass top flanked by four brass urn finials and surmounted by a further larger finial on a foliate mounted scroll superstructure, later pierced brass gallery frets 18 in. (46 cm.) high
