First Edition. Believed to have been in the library of the satirist and cleric Jonathan Swift, best remembered today for his "Gulliver's Travels". The title page bears the holograph inscription "Liber Johannis Swift, non est mortale quod opt, 1698" surrounding the printers device. We have been unable to confirm that this in Swift's hand but a previous owner has housed the book in a custom green cloth chemise and green morocco-backed slipcase, with "Jonathan Swift's Signed Copy" in gilt on the slipcase spine. Lot Amendments Condition: Front cover detached, rear cover nearly so; foxing throughout; good. Item number: 265303
