Bought from Irena Kipsova of Cataj, who made it in the 1940s; a strip from a womanÆs apron from CiÏmany, Slovakia, mid 19th century linen band of pulled work with eight-pointed stars in satin stitch, dark and bright red, yellow and green, (EE-15). This was the village museum, and I bought this embroidery there, 1988; a sleeve from a womanÆs white cotton blouse from Slovenske Grob, Slovakia, embroidered with tulips and stylized flowers in metal thread with mauve and black tambouring and yellow floss silk, (EE-17). Gift from Dr Bumbalova, Ethnographic Museum, Martin 1988; a white cotton sleeve from womanÆs blouse from Detva, Slovakia, with orange and yellow tambouring and yellow and white bobbin lace, (EE-18). She would eat nothing else for the time she stayed.
