Comprising a mimeographed manuscript of Stars and Stripes Forever (Twentieth Century-Fox, 1952), original screenplay by Lamar Trotti, 93 pp, with 5 pp of a "new scene" added to the end, dated March 7, 1952 and marked "Shooting Final" on title page, with 17 inlaid silver gelatin 8 x 10 in. photos of scenes from the film, bound in black and morocco leather with "Stars and Stripes Forever" and "Clifton Webb" embossed in gilt to cover and "Stars and Stripes Forever" embossed in gilt to spine, inscribed on the second page: "Merry Christmas / from / Reclu Yob– / now known / as / Happy Talk / Xmas 1952;" an archival box containing an autograph book with ownership signature ("Webb Raum / 1911")("Webb" was Clifton's actual first name and Raum was the surname of Clifton Webb's stepfather) dated 1911-1915 including inscriptions from actor Lou Tellegen and Al Jolson, who writes: "If they all were as easy to get along with as you;" an oversized 1959 Christmas card signed ("George Cukor"); a Garden of Allah charge card; approximately 61 photos, 8 x 10 in., of Webb dancing in a tuxedo and in a white suit, the latter of which were taken to promote his new contract at MGM (some duplicates); 15 candids and posed photos, some on the set, of Darryl Zanuck, Barbara Stanwyck, and others; 26 snapshots, 3.25 x 4.5 in., of Webb with his dog; 17 snapshots at casual events, many with Robert Wagner; a group of 5 casual and portrait photos; and 7 color transparencies of portrait publicity stills and Webb at home; a second archival box which contains a desk nameplate; 5 photos, 8 x 10 in., relating to Webb's appearance in Three Coins in the Fountain (1954); and approximately 88 snapshots of Webb's early years with family and friends on ski trips, at the beach, and at various events, all mounted on black scrapbook pages. Clifton Webb was the rare performer who traversed the boundaries between Broadway and Hollywood. Though best known for his roles as the persnickety Mr. Belvedere in Sitting Pretty (1948) and the scheming Waldo Lydecker in Laura (1944), Webb was also a professional dancer and singer in vaudeville and on Broadway. Ever the socialite, Webb entertained everyone from royalty to politicians to movie stars, all with his best friend and mother, Mabelle, by his side. 11 x 13 x 16.5 in.
