A collection of assorted 19th Century Military ephemera, mainly relating to Crimean War protagonists, including Charles George Gordon (1833-1885). 'Chinese Gordon'. Autograph front panel of an envelope, unsigned, to G.W. Rusden, (stamp neatly removed with replacement stamp 1857 later added), n.p., n.d.; FitzRoy Somerset, 1st Baron Raglan (1788-1855), Commander of British troops in the Crimea. Franking signature on a cover addressed to Mrs Walpole in Swaffham, 1833; Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), British Prime Minister and Victor at Waterloo, complete Autograph envelope signed, with his initial ''W'' in the lower left corner. The envelope is hand addressed by Wellington to an address in France and is marked 'immediate' at the upper edge. With a Penny Red postage stamp and the red wax seal intact to the reverse; James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan (1797-1868), Lieutenant-General. Commander of the Light Brigade. Signature in ink on paper (closely trimmed); CdV photographs including Garnet Wolseley, 1st Viscount Wolseley (1833-1913), served in Crimea 1854-56 where he lost an eye, photo by Maull & Co, + Marshal Certain de Canrobert (1809-1895), French Commander in Chief (Crimea) circa 1856, photo by Nadar, + Prince Mikhail Dmitrievich Gorchakov (1793-1861), Commander in Chief of the Russian forces in the latter stages of the Crimean War, plus group CdV depicting Crimea veterans by Burton & Co Leicester; plus 5 other albumen portrait photos circa 1860s of Crimean War period military figures, plus an autograph letter dated November 3rd 1859 unknown recipient and sender with content re Crimean War and 1st Barons Raglan and Airey; plus Autograph letter dated 1837 with content re Prince Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov (1782-1856)
