A CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY BLOCKED SERPENTINE-FRONT SLANT-FRONT DESK ATTRIBUTED TO WILLIAM KING (1754-AFTER 1806), SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS, 1785-1795 inscribed on underside of interior drawer this desk was built about the year 1785 for Polly Smith wife of Capt'n David Smith at her death which occurred 1850 it came into possession of her daughter Mary Glazier and kept untill her death which occurred Nov 15 1882 at which time it came into possession of the present owner Geo. Glazier 41 1/2 in. high, 41 3/8 in. wide, 22 1/2 in. deep
