A cased Meissen silver-gilt mounted travelling tea and coffee service, circa 1755 finely painted in purpurmalerei with Watteauesque and commedia dell'arte scenes of figures in landscapes and scattered flower sprigs, comprising; a small egg-shaped tea-urn on three scroll and vine feet, and cover, with silver-gilt mounts at rims, the silver-gilt spout modelled as a dog's head, a small rectangular tea caddy and a silver-gilt mounted cover, a hot milk or water jug and cover with silver-gilt chain, a sugar bowl and cover, four teacups, coffee cups and saucers, and four green-edged leaf-shape and scroll moulded spoons, crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue, the coffee cups with gilded A. mark, impressed numerals, the contemporary leather case of rectangular form with green-silk lining edged in silvered-thread, with two-gilt metal handles at sides, Quantity: 25 the case approximately 18.2cm., 7 1/8 in. high, 53.4cm., 21in. wide, 30cm., 11 7/8 in. deep
