A BRONZE CEREMONIAL WINE VESSEL, ZUN EARLY WESTERN ZHOU DYNASTY, 10TH CENTURY BC The bulbous mid-section with two taotie masks with large oblong eyes cast in relief as are the prominent nostrils and rounded bosses incorporated into the inward-pointing horns, with similar bosses also incorporated into the sides of the jaws and the legs, all reserved on a leiwen ground between pairs of double bow-string borders, the base of the interior cast with a two-character inscription that may be read, 'Xiong Ding', with extensive green and some brownish encrustation allover 8½ in. (21.5 cm.) high
