A black and russet-splashed deep bowl and cover Northern Song/Jin dynasty The bowl with deep rounded sides rising from a well-cut foot ring, the walls splashed with large russet patches of 'partridge feathers' type on a blackish-brown glaze also covering the interior well marked with three spur marks rising from the floor, the unglazed surfaces of the rim, foot pad and portions of the recessed base showing the buff fabric; the domed cover with a flat rim and twig-shaped handle glazed en suite and the unglazed buff fabric exposed on the underside. 5 3/4in (14.5cm) high (2).
