A 28-Bore Caucasian Miquelet-Lock Holster Pistol, And A Caucasian Kindjal Each 19th Century The first with swamped Turkish (?) barrel with sighting flat and raised panels at the breech and muzzle decorated with gold-inlaid arabesques and stars, and with two marks, one containing the Arabic inscription 'Made by Hajji Muzaffar (?)', the other indistinct, characteristic lock encrusted with silver flower-heads and foliage, the underside of the mainspring with an inscription in Arabic including the name 'Amir Jadal', figured Circassian walnut full stock with applied shaped silver panels engraved with arabesques, rosettes, flowers and scrollwork, three silver barrel bands, one engraved with an inscription in Arabic including the owner's name 'Hajj 'Umar', long iron barrel tang incorporating the back-sight, overlaid with silver (incomplete) nielloed with a running design of flower-heads, and extending to the silver pommel (pommel damaged, lower half replaced), later brass suspension ring, and no provision for a ramrod (some wear throughout); the second with tapering double-edged blade cut on each side with three fullers each etched with scrollwork, and struck on one side at the forte with two marks and a signature, the hilt and scabbard entirely covered with nielloed silver (some defects) decorated on the outside with panels of foliage in low relief, beadwork, flower-heads and scrolling foliage, and on the inside with nielloed flowers and foliage 19½in.
