A 19TH CENTURY NAIVE BUTCHER'S SHOP DISPLAY MODEL C.1885 of carved and painted wood depicting a timber framed building with three windows and lace curtains, with a papered interior, with a pig and bull hanging shop sign, above pots of flowers, a mouse and a Royal Coat of Arms, the butcher's shop below hung with numerous cuts of meat, a drop dial clock and with a sign, inscribed 'M & M Bull Butchers Est. 1883', with three figures accompanied by a cat, chopping blocks and ladders, in a glazed display case stained to simulate maple 57.2cm high, 78cm wide, 24.7cm deep Catalogue Note It is thought that these models were put in the empty shop window once the meat had been moved to cold storage at the end of the day or possibly they were used as a visual guide of the different cuts of meat that were available.
