A 19th century German (perhaps Bavarian) hunting knife, of very thick and robust proportions. The blade 27cm long by 8mm thick at the base of the spine, being flat on one side, with an edge bevel only on one side. Single-edged with an 11cm false-edge, having etched decoration on both sides including a running stag and scrolling foliage. Guard and pommel cap of blackened iron, engraved with foliage and the outer shell with a hunting horn. The grip covered in fine shagreen. Overall length 41cm.
