"The Latin text went through seven editions, and it was translated into nine other European languages (...). Some of the changes in these editions reflect the emphases of the publishers or editors: Gillis Janszoon Valckenier's 1660 Dutch edition, for example, is entitled China devastated by the barbarous Tartar (...). Valckenier faithfully reproduced the original text in his Latin edition, and his Dutch edition is an accurate translation of it. Only the titles and illustrations are new.
