Complete series of 56 handcol. lithogr. posters, each 65x50 cm., all Paris, Hayard/ Lenepveu, ±1900. - Printed on brittle paper, occas. sl. waterstained in upper right corner, frayed/ chipped; a few lithographs dam. (1x badly dam.); the majority nevertheless in good/ fine condition; occasional annots. in pencil in margin of the prints identifying the portrayed. = Remarkable and very provocative antisemitic caricatures consisting of 2 series: first a series of 51 caricatures (numb. 1-50 and one unnumb. print) mocking Dreyfus, Zola and many other supporting Dreyfusards (i.a. members of the Rothschild family, Georges Clémenceau, Fernand Labori, Jean Jaurès, Nathan Mayer, Charlotte Mayer and General André); the unnumb. print ("Musée des Horreurs. 30 ans après!...") shows Alfred Dreyfus strangling Marianne; the second series consists of 5 lithographs (numb. 1-5), showing the major antisemitic public figures in France at the time (i.a. Paul Deroulède, H. Rochefort, Drumont and François Coppée). The artist Lenepveu is most probably a pseudonym, the artist's real name remains to be solved. Extremely rare complete series, which was very popular at the time of printing and which shows the strong antisemitic sentiments in France in the decades around 1900.
