Hoppe, Claude Harris and (uncredited) Atelier Jaeger, the majority published by Hermann Leiser, Berlin, each 135 x 88mm., corners loosely inserted in paper leaves, unused and in fine condition, c.1909-1914; with a further group of 37 photographic postcards of British actors including Sarah Bernhardt Gerald Du Maurier, Gladys Cooper and Henry Irving, most in character, in all 86 postcards, a few corner strips torn, front hinge broken, first gathering detached, but generally in very good condition, ownership inscription dated 1915, contemporary cloth, small 4to. *** A rare collection dating from the early, pre-First World War, period of the Ballets Russes commissioned by Diaghilev to promote the touring company he established in 1909. Studies of dancers in costume from twelve ballets include Scheherazade, Carnaval, The Firebird, Le Spectre de la Rose and Petrushka.
