2007 Mercedes-Benz SL55 AMG F1 Lot Number151 RegistrationGNO7 UAH Chassis NumberWDB2304722F134648 Engine Number11399560055694 Odometer reading45,558 miles Estimate£30,000 - £35,000 ResultSold - £40,752 Print details Send this to a friend This is the facelift model with F1 option pack Last major service less than 2,000 miles ago Good service history Mercedes-Benz launched its new SL-Class (R230) of high-performance GTs in September 2001 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, though one had already served as Formula 1's Safety Car at Hockenheim in July. In 2002 the SL55 AMG went on sale. Hailed by Evo magazine as 'a supercar in disguise', the latter was powered by a 5.4 litre V8 engine producing 469bhp and a monstrous 520lb/ft of torque. And if that was not enough, the seriously speed-addicted could opt for the F1 version, which came with AMG's Performance Package that had been developed for the 2002 Formula 1 Safety Car. Costing an additional £10,000, AMG's upgrades included 'relaxing' the electronic speed restriction, enabling the car to reach 300km/h (186mph), plus changes to the suspension and brakes. There was also an extra oil cooler, a limited-slip differential and various changes to the exterior and interior styling. For the SL55 AMG a more robust five-speed automatic transmission was specified, the standard car's seven-speeder being considered not man enough for the job. This superb example of this ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ is presented in silver with black leather interior and comes with electric memory seats, air conditioning with climate control and a wind deflector. This is the facelift model with the F1 option pack and offered 510bhp when new and with its improved suspension, it gave it 60% less body roll. It also comes with a full Mercedes-Benz service history except for the last two, which were carried out by a Mercedes-Benz specialist. When the car was fully serviced in August 2019, this included the drive belts and plugs with an invoice total of £3,880 and it has covered just over 900 miles since. The present owner last serviced the car in February this year and he also replaced the rather dated satellite navigation system with a modern £3,000 Apple CarPlay touch screen unit (the original unit will come with car retaining its provenance). This fabulous car wants for nothing and is in superb condition throughout.
