THE QUEEN'S PERSONAL DAIMLER. Delivered new to Buckingham Palace in 2001 this Daimler V8 Super LWB was to become the personal transportation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for the next three years. The car was road tested by the Jaguar/Daimler factory for 2500 miles to iron out any potential problems prior to delivery and during the Royal ownership a further 11,000 miles were covered before the vehicle was handed back to The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust to whom the car is still registered today. The Queen used the car to travel around the estate of Windsor Castle and to travel to and from Buckingham Palace as well as for attending functions and visiting friends and dignitaries; photographs of the Queen driving the car as well as being driven in it are included. At the Queen's request, the car features a number of unique modifications - one of which was a factory adapted arm rest with a sliding holder specifically designed to hold her particular type of handbag, having commented that there was nowhere to put it when she was accompanied by her lady in waiting or her Detective whilst at the wheel of the car. The reigning monarch had also mentioned that she enjoyed fresh air to the rear when being driven; however did not want the air directly onto her face; so Jaguar fitted several extra switches to allow the Queen to operate the windows from either side. The car, which has no cigarette lighters, also had the ashtray converted to accept the security lighting system which is still functioning - these include a set of blue flashing strobes occupying the front fog lamp inserts, alternate flashing headlamps and rear alternate flashing rear lights. Another feature is a pair of neon blue lights situated behind the rear view mirror in order to alert security as to which vehicle the Queen was travelling in when approaching the Palace and Windsor Castle and also for greater visibility in the event of a smoke attack. In the boot, the fittings can still be found for direct contact to the Home Office and Downing Street, although the working components have now been removed. The Queen returned the car to Jaguar in 2004 and today it remains as it was then, even down to the original tyres. Fully serviced and maintained by both R. A. Creamer of Kensington and Guy Salmon of Ascot, both of whom still maintain the Royal fleet locally for Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, the current recorded mileage is 15,242. The last time the car was seen in public was when it was invited to the Cartier Royal Jubilee display at the 2012 Goodwood Festival of Speed. This regal Daimler Super V8 is finished in the traditional colour of British Racing Green and is also fitted with soft leather throughout together with lambswool rugs. All the books and documentation issued is included, along with two sets of keys, original registration number, full and recent service history, this car is fitted with every conceivable luxury extra, and the current condition can only be described as stunning. With a Heritage Certificate from Jaguar and a letter from Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust attesting to its Royal connection, this represents a rare opportunity to purchase a unique, important and totally useable, one careful lady owner vehicle which would surely grace any collection.
