Beschreibung:

Local Interest - An antique 19th century Victorian oil on canvas painting, unsigned, depicting Bristol-based draper and habit maker Martin Hutstein, whose shop was located at No. 28 College Green, where he traded as a tailor. The large oil on canvas depicts Hutstein in a quarter-length pose with spectacles. Later framed in a period style frame by Frost & Reed. Total size approx; 77cm x 68cm. The painting is supplied with an archive of history, including letters to Hutstein and his business, as well as an accounts book dating from 1878, filled out in Hutstein's hand. A folder of related family history is also present, and appears that around the late 1990s some considerable research was conducted into the family history of the Hutsteins. An interesting collection.
