Registration: R775 PGM Chassis Number: ZFFZR49C000111599 Engine Number: 49019 Number of cylinders: V12 CC: 5474 Year of Manufacture: 1998 RHD/LHD: Right Hand Drive
A UK-supplied, right-hand drive, 550M with a manual gearbox Jay Kay's first ever 'Supercar' purchase and the beginning of his extraordinary collection Superbly finished in Grigio Titanio with a Bordeaux leather interior 14,000 miles with a comprehensive service history and every invoice from new End of an era. Last of the big front-engined, rear-wheel drive, V12, manual gearbox cars in this condition, and with celebrity provenance, we feel this represents a serious investment opportunity Front-engined V12 Ferrari Grand Tourers have always been the stuff of Ferrari legend since the days of the original 365 GTB/4 Daytona back in the early 1970s. This evolution has included the elegant 456 which was superseded in July 1996 by the Pininfarina-designed, 550 Maranello. Featuring a 485 bhp, 5,474 cc, DOHC, V-12 engine with Bosch Motronic fuel injection, six-speed manual transmission, independent front and rear suspension with unequal-length A-arms and coil springs, and four-wheel ventilated Brembo disc brakes with ABS, this was indeed a “driver's car”. It was also to become the last front engined, rear wheel drive V12 manual car that Ferrari would ever produce - giving it instant iconic status. Offered straight from the amazing car collection of rock legend and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, this car is in absolutely outstanding condition. Significantly, this was his first ever 'Supercar' purchase and was the founder member of the extraordinary and varied collection that he enjoys today. The service history is comprehensive and fully detailed in the accompanying owner's file with every invoice from new right up to the car's most recent service. Finished in Grigio Titanio with Bordeaux leather, it both looks and drives superbly and has covered just 13,980 miles from new. Jay speaks very highly of his 550 and we are very privileged to be able to offer this significant car for the first time at public auction. With its low mileage, remarkable condition and celebrity ownership, it represents both a unique investment opportunity and the chance to drive one of the best front-engined Ferraris of recent years.
