1990 BMW M5 Lot Number235 RegistrationG177 COY Chassis NumberWBSHD91090BK02648 Odometer reading275,292 km Estimate£19,000 - £23,000 Print details Send this to a friend Contact us 2 more images Just like the Jaguar Mk. II had done in the 1960's, the BMW M5, effectively reinvented the popular notion of a sports Saloon. Based on the E34 chassis which was produced at BMW's Dingolfing plant. The E34 generation of the M5 was produced from September 1988 to 1995. It was hand-built at BMW M GmbH in Garching, Germany. Assembly was done either by a single M employee or a team of M employees and generally took about two weeks. In the second half of 1991, engine displacement was increased to 3.8 litres with the S38B38. Power was now increased to 335bhp and the E34 M5 was the last M5 to feature an engine with a historical link to a BMW Motorsport racing engine. An E34 M5 was raced in the Australian 1992 Bathurst 12 Hour Production Car endurance race, placing 2nd overall and 1st in class. It was driven by former F1 champion Alan Jones Neville Crichton and BMW Touring car driver, Tony Longhurst. This good example of a E34 M5 comes to us from a significant collector of classic cars. She presents well with good black coachwork and the black leather interior is also in good order. Clearly this has been a well-cared for car taking into account the condition and the age of the car. We are advised she drives well although has been used sparingly of late. Having been imported from the Netherlands, she is now UK registered and is supplied with a V5C registration document. Few cars are as exciting to drive as an M5, a saloon car with, by any standards, brisk performance. They are highly desirable and hold genuine investment potential.
