1989 Porsche Carrera Sport to 964 Turbo Specification Lot Number 166 Registration F682NRJ Chassis Number WP0ZZZ91ZKS101630 Engine Number 61M03121 Odometer reading 86,987 miles Estimate £43,000 - £50,000 Print details Send this to a friend 5 more images - Group One GT Cup competitor - Fished 3rd at Spa and 2nd overall in 2009 - Road legal producing 520 BHP The Porsche 964 is the company's internal name for the Porsche 911 manufactured and sold between 1989 and 1994. Designed by Benjamin Dimson in 1986, it featured significant styling revisions over previous 911 models; most prominently, the more integrated bumpers. It was the first generation 911 to be offered with Porsche's optional Tiptronic automatic transmission and all wheel drive as options. The GT Cup is perhaps the Holy Grail for budding and experienced race car drivers; Group One cars are not for the feint hearted and this particular GT competitor started life as a rather unassuming Carrera Sport and was sourced by a race team lead by driver Danny Winstanley. A light damage insurance loss in 2005 meant that this donor car could be readily sourced; it was purchased and then swiftly up rated to a competitive car ready for the 2009 championships. Recently, the current owner had the car independently inspected in accordance with the Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre by AutoLign inspections of Mawsley resulting in the car being removed from the HPI condition alert register; this was thought prudent for possible road use. Currently boasting its 2009 race decals, FIA approved seats and belts which we are told are valid until 2018, this 911 weighs less than 1,000kg and boasts a race tuned 520bhp 911 Turbo engine propelling the car from 0-60 in under 3 seconds. In 2015, the car had his engine and gearbox rebuilt by HP Motorsport (Porsche Specialists). A fully adjustable race suspension coupled with GT2 endurance Brembo brakes, Toyo 888 road/track tyres, the required fire extinguisher system and Xenon lights helped propel this example to 3rd at Spa and 2nd in the 2009 championship standings after the eighth round at Silverstone. We are assured by the vendor that returning this car to the track would not require much work. The current vendor describes the performance as mind blowing and tells us it is the perfect tool to collect the Sunday papers which we assume is somewhat tongue in cheek.
