Le 17 mai 1985, pour célébrer les 75 ans de la marque, le constructeur milanais lance un nouveau modèle: l'Alfa Romeo 75. Héritière de la base mécanique de la Giulietta de 1977, elle bénéficie du fameux moteur en aluminium double arbre à cames en tête qui a fait la réputation de ses aînées et d'un design contemporain réalisé par le centre du style maison. En mars 1986, l'Alfa 75 1.8 Turbo est présentée. Equipée du moteur 1779 cm3 qui a reçu un turbo Garrett T3 Intercooler, elle développe 155 chevaux et bat la version V6 2.5 de plus d'une demi-seconde en accélération de zéro à 100 km/h. Notre exemplaire appartient à la seconde série de la 75 produite de 1988 à 1993. Achetée neuve par un Belge, elle est ensuite devenue, via un marchand néerlandais, la propriété d'un Monégasque passionné de modèles sportifs. Elle est équipée du rare kit Evoluzione qui avait été développé pour répondre à l'homologation du modèle en Groupe A par la FIA. On la différencie des 500 authentiques 75 Turbo Evoluzione à ses jantes Campagnolo en 15 pouces gris clair métallisé et à l'absence de l'immense autocollant affiché sur ses flancs. Il s'agit d'un exemplaire parfaitement fidèle à l'origine ayant échappé à toute modification. Côté habitacle, la sellerie d'origine et le tableau de bord sont en excellent état. Le compteur affiche un kilométrage de 95 500 km d'origine relativement peu élevé eu égard à son âge et à la capacité de son moteur à largement dépasser les deux cents mille kilomètres. Son essai routier a confirmé un bon fonctionnement mécanique d'ensemble, ainsi qu'un comportement et un freinage parfaitement sains. Cette Alfa méconnue, au style des années 1980 et au caractère très italien, est particulièrement plaisante à conduire grâce à son mode de propulsion à l'ancienne et à l'efficacité de son moteur turbo. Inheriting many mechanical components from the 1977 Giulietta, it featured the famous twin overhead cam aluminium engine on which its predecessors' reputation had been built and contemporary body styling designed inhouse. In March 1986, the Alfa 75 1.8 Turbo was introduced. Equipped with the 1779cc engine with an intercooled Garrett T3 turbocharger, it developed 155bhp and beat the 2.5 V6 model by more than half a second accelerating from 0-100km/h (62mph). The model we are presenting today is from the second series of 75s, built from 1988-1993. Bought new by a Belgian customer, it subsequently passed through a Dutch dealer to become the property of a sports car enthusiast in Monaco. It is fitted with the rare Evoluzione kit which was developed to meet the FIA's Group A homologation requirements for the model. It can be distinguished from the 500 genuine 75 Turbo Evoluzione cars by its 15-inch Campagnolo wheels with a light grey metallic finish and the absence of the huge sticker applied to its sides. Inside the car, the original upholstery and dashboard are in excellent condition. The odometer is showing 95,500km (59,300 miles) from new, which is relatively low given the car's age and the ability of the engine to cover well over 200,000km (125,000 miles). Our test confirmed that the car was overall in good mechanical order, with perfect handling and brakes. Often overlooked, this Alfa with its 1980s styling and very Italian personality is very pleasant to drive, thanks to its oldschool rear-wheel drive layout and powerful turbocharged engine.
