Beschreibung:

Launched in late 1985, the 560SL convertible/coupé was the latest in Mercedes-Benz's long and much loved line of luxury sports cars that could trace its lineage back to the 230SL of 1963. In the 560SL's case its Type 107 bodyshell had debuted on the 350SL (introduced late in 1970) and this timeless style would continue in production for another five years. The 560SL was specifically created for the North American market where the 380SL was being challenged by privately imported examples of the more powerful, European-market 500SL model. Powered by a 5.5-liter, overhead-camshaft V8 engine, the 560SL emphatically redressed the balance, producing 227bhp to the US-market 380SL's 155, an output good enough for a top speed of 137mph with 60mph reachable in 8 seconds. There were improvements to the running gear too in the form of anti-dive/anti-squat rear suspension, limited-slip differential and revised steering geometry, while other noteworthy features incorporated in this class-leading automobile included leather upholstery, anti-lock braking, anti-theft alarm system, stereo radio-cassette, leather trimmed steering wheel/shift lever, and an improved climate control system, all of which were standard equipment. In 1986, the first full year of production, the 560SL sold for $48,200 (East Coast). The subject car has been in the present ownership for approximately 6 years and prior to this had been with its previous, original owner since November 1986. It was acquired for its condition, low mileage and black paintwork scheme, one of the more dateless on these cars. The bodywork is accented with a pinstripe and the interior is trimmed in tan hide. Complete with both tops, the hard top is reported to be in good order and for its safety and protection has a garage stand. The soft top is said to have just one small hole, a minor defect which is openly stated by its owner to be imperfection in an otherwise straight, rust free and well presented car. The mileage to date is listed as a little over 60,000. An SL Mercedes immediately conjures thoughts of sunny days and open top motoring, this attractive example is ready to be enjoyed for just that.
