1986 Ferrari Testarossa Monospecchio Lot Number 194 Registration TES 300S Chassis Number ZFFTA17C000060011 Engine Number 359 Odometer reading 56,539 miles Estimate £100,000 - £125,000 Print details Send this to a friend At the Paris Salon of 1984, Ferrari presented the successor to the legendary BB512 after nearly ten years of production. Called Testarossa, referring to the legendary Le Mans winning car, it is again the work of Pininfarina. The Testarossa is equipped with a 12-cylinder boxer engine inaugurated in 1972 on the 365 GT4 BB. The capacity is increased to 4942cc and power increased to 390hp at 6300rpm, at the time of its release, the Testarossa was a rare series of cars to flirt with a 190mph top speed. For the first two years, the Testarossa was fitted with a single mirror on the drivers A-pillar and knock-off wheel hubs. Arguably the most collectible version of the Testarossa, the original single mirror or 'monospecchio' Testarossa marked a turning point for Ferrari and was a huge leap in style and technology when launched in late 1984 from its predecessor the 512BBi and became an instant icon and now a modern classic. First registered on 1st February 1986 to Harry Prew-Smith of Nottingham, through Gray Paul Motors in Loughborough, this early Testarossa is a rare UK delivered righthand drive example and is supplied with its original leather wallet with the original owners manual and sales and service booklet. The service book shows a detailed servicing history with services carried out by Ferrari main dealer for the first six services at 1,568 miles and subsequently at 6,515, 11,856, 18,645, 25,100 and 31,217 miles respectively and further servicing at 43,445 miles, 46,154, 48,294 and 50,494 miles at Ferrari specialists. Accompanying paperwork includes various bills and receipts, 16 old Mot test certificates and an old V5 which shows the car was purchased by music mogul Pete Waterman on 3rd June 1988. The V5 document shows the current registered keeper took ownership on the 28th January 2005. Finished in the iconic colour scheme of Rosso Corsa with a Nero hide interior, it is believed one of only 48 righthand drive Monospecchio or single mirror cars to come to these shores making this a particularly rare and desirable motor car.
