Introduced in 1985, the Turbo R continued the modern 'Blower Bentley' theme that had commenced with the Mulsanne Turbo, but with the added refinement of suspension better suited to the car's increased performance. Outwardly the R differed by sporting cast-alloy wheels shod with low-profile Pirelli tyres, while inside there was a revised fascia with rev-counter included amongst the comprehensive instrumentation. Despite its not inconsiderable weight, the Turbo R would accelerate to 60mph in under seven seconds and 135mph would be showing on the clock before the limiter cut in. Few cars were, or are, better suited to fast long-distance touring. One of 930 long-wheelbase Turbo Rs made between 1984 and 1994 (as opposed to more than 4,000 of the 'standard' short-wheelbase version), this example has enjoyed just three owners and covered c.90,000 miles from new. The car is finished in Brewster Green with matching leather interior, the latter equipped with cocktail cabinet and picnic tables to the rear, and is described as in very good condition throughout. The vehicle possesses an MoT certificate valid until June 2004 and is offered with partial service history including service book recording a major mechanical overhaul undertaken in December 2002. It should be noted that the current cherished registration mark is being retained by the vendor.
