The initial plan was to build just 400 for the motorsport industry, but due to strong demand the Quattro went into full production and the first lefthand drive versions were available in the UK in the Spring of 1981, with righthand drive following in the Autumn of 1982. The first cars are easily identifiable by their twin headlamps, six-inch Ronal wheels (seven inch Fuchs as options) and black boot spoilers. The engine was a turbo charged version of the fuel injected 2144cc five-cylinder engine which originally produced 200bhp and a massive 210 lbf of torque. This phenomenal power would take the car to 60mph in 6.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 140 mph. The four-wheel drive transmission’s ability to provide traction in all conditions meant that the car rewrote the rule book in terms of road holding and acceleration. This Audi was registered on 4th October 1985. She presents very well in Zermatt Silver with a brown check interior. This impressive car has a comprehensive service history showing 24 stamps in the service book and is offered for sale with an original sales brochure and an instruction manual signed by former World Champion rally driver Hannu Mikkola. Recently this car has benefitted from having a new cambelt fitted as well as a new water pump and brake discs and pads. The electronic dashboard has been refurbished and works as it should, including the voice instructions. The rear differential bushes have also been replaced. The knowledgeable and fastidious vendor has ensured this Quattro presents in excellent condition. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 30th April 2021 this is an opportunity to purchase an Audi that is great to drive and offers investment potential. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
