1984 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Roadster Lot Number256 RegistrationB29 0PK Chassis NumberWDB1070462A015097 Engine Number11796222004291 Odometer reading65,000 miles Estimate£14,000 - £16,000 ResultSold - £17,024 Print details Send this to a friend The Mercedes-Benz SL class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300 SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116) and has become a benchmark of quality throughout the years. Over its seventeen year reign, the R107 range was powered by no less than eight different engines - two sizes of straight-six unit and six versions of V8's with many favouring the larger 500 SL. This desirable Mercedes-Benz 500SL is presented in gleaming white together with a new dark blue hood (new in 2015) and contrasting blue leather interior. This luxury sports tourer was resprayed five years ago and is in very good mechanical condition according to the current owner. These 500 models are highly desirable due to the large V8 which make them sublime continental tourers. Interested parties should note that although this car is registered with a UK registration and has a current MoT test certificate - a new V5 registration document will have to be applied for. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
