Presented today is a rather unusual custom Toyota Hilux. It was built around 15 years ago to an extremely high standard and specification. The chassis and cab (sandblasted) were stripped back to bare metal and fitted with original manufacturer's replacement doors, bonnet and front wings. The rear pick up aluminium coachwork is hand rolled and finished with steel rear wings and detailed plate work with stainless steel rails. The excellent panels and finish display outstanding craftsmanship. Power is provided by a rebuilt 3.9 litre Rover V8 with Holly carburettor on an Offenhauser manifold with extraction via tubular headers. Drive is via a rebuilt five speed close ratio Rover gearbox and Jaguar 3.8 Mk. II back axle, making this a now two-wheel drive truck. The interior is fitted with Alcantara with Jaguar auxiliary gauges and Sunbeam Tiger Odometer and rev. counter; in addition there is a vacuum gauge. Seat restraint is provided with a set of full harnesses. We are advised by the vendor that XOO 741X, a UK registered Hilux, will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate, six months road fund licence and four spare wheels (two with tyres). Not only is the build standard of this pick up excellent, when you jump in and start the engine, you will realise that you are in something special. Very little used since the build, this Toyota represents excellent value and is virtually like a new truck.
