The 308GTB was launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1975 and was built alongside the 308GT4 and designed as a replacement for the 246 Dino. Designed by Leonardo Fiorvanti, the man who styled some of the most iconic Ferrari's including the Daytona, the new 308 sported a rakish and attractive body which fused classic elements of Ferrari styling with a thoroughly modern design. For the first two years of production, the body of the308 was produced in fibreglass after which steel was used. The 308 shared a similar tube frame chassis as the original Dino and 308GT4 with four wheel double wishbone independent suspension. The engine was a V8 unit which was positioned behind the driver and was transversely mounted with double overhead camshafts and four 40DCNF Weber carburettors latterly replaced with Bosch K Jetronic mechanical fuel injection. This excellent, rare, righthand drive 308 GTS is one of the 184 supplied new in the UK and is fitted with the more desirable carburetors. Restored in 1989 when the colour was changed from the original white to Ferrari red the vendor purchased this car in 2012 and has kept it fully maintained it has recently had the cam bels changed. Finished in red with cream interior this Ferrari 308GTS is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2016 and a file containing the history of the car from 1989. The 308 carburettor model is one of the most classical shapes produced by Ferrari in the 1970s and 80s and represents good value as Ferraris continue to rise in worth and desirability.
