Beschreibung:

The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 were produced by Mercedes-Benz from 1971 through 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the automaker, after the G-Class. They were sold under the SL (R107) and SLC (C107) model names as the 280 SL, 280 SLC, 300 SL, etc. up to the 560 SL. The SLC (C107) derivative was a 2 door hardtop coupe with normal rear seats. The SLC is commonly referred to as an ‘SL coupe’, and this was the first time that Mercedes-Benz had based a coupe on an SL roadster platform rather than on a saloon, replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coupé in Mercedes lineup. The SLC had a shorter production run compared to the roadsters which meant that less than an eighth of the 107 chassis were built as 450 SLC’s, the most part ending up in America, making this low mileage RHD example on offer here today a very desirable car. Purchased by its current custodian in 1982, this beautifully preserved example of the ever appreciating W107 has been used by the family as a ‘secondary’ car receiving regular yet sparing use until this day. Having always been stored in a climate controlled garage, this special 450 SLC is described to be in good overall condition throughout! Delivered new on the 1st of August 1978 and finished in blue with light brown velour interior, this car has traveled less than 50,000 miles from new and only 15,000 miles since it was purchased in 1982. Supporting recorded mileage, the history file contains numerous MOT’s that have been kept by its fastidious owner, dating all the way back to 1981. One of the reasons that the car is found in the amazingly original condition that it is today is because it has spent almost the last decade (last MOT dated 11 June 2008) in its private garage having only been reborn in April last year, with the rather unsurprising advisory ‘all tires perished due to age degradation’. All proceeds of this Lot will be donated to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution who have saved an incredible 140,000 lives since its foundation, at the cost of 600 lives lost in service.
