The Fiat 126 is a city car introduced in October 1972 at the Turin Motor Show as a replacement for the now legendary Fiat 500. The Fabryka Samochodów Małolitrażowych (known with acronym FSM) was a Polish car factory born from an agreement between the FSO and Fiat in the 1970s for the construction of a new model, the Polski Fiat 126p, a Polish version of the Fiat 126. For the project, a new manufacturing plant was opened in Tychy and was active between 1972 and 1991 when it was privatised and Fiat Group took control. Built by Fiat RallyeSport mechanics in Poland in 2008 and using an original 1978 body-shell, engine and running gear; the remaining parts, it was decided, were all to be brand-new. Included in the interior specification is a six-point roll-cage, Brantz timing gear, FIA seats, six-point harness as well as many additional spares including ten wheels and five brand new snow tyres. Perfect for the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique or Winter Challenge and eligible for many other historic events, rallies and races, this Fiat has already competed at Mallory Park, the Tour Britannia and other HRCR tarmac rallies in the UK.
