Tenacious adhesion, responsive steering, very good flexibility, superb brakes, meticulous finish and a solid, un-burstable feel were just some of the virtues praised by Motor magazine in its test of a Porsche 911T in 1973. Introduced as a new base model in 1967, the 911T (Touring) came initially with the 2-litre engine in 110bhp form, gaining the 2.2-litre unit, along with the rest of the range, in 1969. The T's power output then was 125bhp, increasing to 130bhp with the introduction of the 2.4-litre engine in 1971. The model was discontinued in 1973. The present owner purchased this right-hand drive 2.4-litre 911T at Brooks’ Earls Court Sale in October 1995. At that time the car (Lot 31) was described as in outstanding condition, never subjected to extensive restoration work other than a high quality re-spray in original Guards Red carried out some five years previously; having been very well cared for it had never needed any such work. The vehicle was reported as having seen summer use only since the repaint, the galvanised chassis, used by Porsche from early 1973 onwards, obviously contributing to its rust-free state. As befits a car of such outstanding quality, this 911T is in standard condition, looking purposeful on optional Fuchs five-spoke alloy wheels. Electrically adjustable Recaro seats in black leather from a later model have been fitted, though the original items are included in the sale. Since acquisition by the vendor the car has been kept in dry storage, seeing very little use apart from ‘MoT’ trips and occasional exercise. It remains in excellent condition throughout. The vehicle is offered with road fund licence to November 2004, MoT to February 2005 and Swansea V5 registration document.
