To satisfy the Homologation regulations for Ferrari's 1966 Formula Two campaign, Ferrari produced a new mid-engined coupé design with V6 engines for production in 1967. This eventually led to the larger 2.4 V6 engined 246 GT and GTS being introduced in 1969. The V6 was the first of its kind for Ferrari and the 246 was, in many people's minds, the most beautiful road going Ferrari built. We are delighted to offer this wonderful right hand drive example of the Ferrari Dino 246 GT that has been in long term ownership since 1988. During this period, the Ferrari has undergone a ground up restoration that covered body, trim and mechanical overhaul including a complete engine and gearbox rebuild in 2005/6. The ethos was to employ a no expense spared policy within this period, resulting in the car you see today that not only looks attractive, but operates exactly as designed. A massive file accompanies the car and includes all correspondence regarding the restoration and maintenance of the Ferrari during the current ownership. The beautiful and voluptuous curves of the 246 were designed by Pininfarina; this particular example has excellent coachwork and is finished to a high standard in giallo fly (fly yellow). The interior invites you to settle into the tan leather seats whereby you immediately feel comfortable behind the wheel. The instruments, sitting within the excellently finished alloy dashboard, are easily read and convey information to the driver as they should. The engine starts easily without any signs of smoking, unsurprising considering the history and the Ferrari engaged all gears easily and smoothly. The car conveys an air of confidence to the driver and is complimented by the magnificent view through the screen and over those beautifully penned Pininfarina curved wings on either side of the car. Other items of note are; the finely detailed engine bay, a replacement Ferrari tool kit, the factory jack, and the very rare original Ferrari handbook and parts book in their Dino wallet. For security, the car is also fitted with a Tracker system. This 246 GT is UK registered and has an MoT test certificate valid until July 2015. With prices of the Ferrari Dino reaching stratospheric heights this surely represents an ideal opportunity, if you have ever aspired to one, given the realistic estimate; an opportunity surely not to be missed.
