The Maserati Ghibli, whose sublime shape vouches for the talent of the young Giorgetto Giugiaro then with Ghia, remains amongst the masterpieces of Italian bodywork from its most beautiful era. Although there is nothing revolutionary about its chassis, its mechanics were at the height of Marandello's production with a "four shaft" V8 engine courtesy of the pencil of the engineer Alfieri, who trained with competitor technicians. With 330 hp from its engine, 4.7 litres derived from the powerful racing 450 S and thanks to the purity of its shape and fluidity of its lines, the first 1966 Ghibli reached 250km/hr in fifth. In 1970, it received an engine which was brought up to 4.9 litres and 335 hp offering a far superior torque and guaranteeing greater flexibility. The most beautiful Maserati ever produced must feature, like the Ferrari Daytona and alongside it, in any collection favouring the most beautiful and best performing sporty coupes created before the oil crisis of 1973. The car presented in midnight blue with beige interior has 34,400km on the clock. The leather interior with its rear cushions, and the carpets, have been refitted in keeping with the originals. The car is fitted with air conditioning, a stainless steel exhaust and recent mechanical work has been carried out (cf. invoice folder) The openings are well-fitted, although the paintwork would benefit from being redone. It is accompanied by a folder of invoices in addition to its French registration documents (carte grise).
