Beschreibung:

1970 MASERATI 115 GHIBLI COUPE Registration No. To be advised (Germany) Chassis No. AM 1151318 Engine No. AM 1151318 Dark green with tan leather interior Engine: V8, twin overhead camshaft, 4,709cc, 330bhp at 5,500rpm; Gearbox: five speed manual synchromesh; Brakes: Servo assisted ventilated discs; Suspension: front, upper and lower A-Arms, coil springs, anti-roll bar, rear, live axle, radius arms, semi-elliptic leaf springs. Left hand drive. The Ghibli Coupe was launched at the 1966 Turin Motor show and, like all new Maseratis, caused excitement throughout the motoring world. Designed by Giorgio Giugiaro of Ghia, it was named after a wind rather like the Mistral and Khamsin. Using the same chassis as the Quattroporte sedan and Mexico coupe, the wheelbase was shortened by 3½ inches making this a strict two seater GT. The Ghibli thus had the same tubular chassis stiffened by pressings, foldings and fabrications and had to make do with a simple live rear axle on semi-elliptic leaf springs. Maybe a little dated compared to the rival Ferrari 275GTB and Lamborghini 400GT, but the performance did not seem to suffer. With an overall height of only 46 inches, headroom was limited, but this was compenstated by an overall length of 180 inches making the Ghibli one of the longest European two seaters ever built. This example has been extensively renovated during its lifetime. The original interior has been meticulously cared for and is in very good condition. The car has not been used in recent years and a full condition report will be available prior to the auction.
