1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster Lot Number146 RegistrationWJB 358H Chassis Number1R1307 Engine Number7R6587-9 Odometer reading90,865 miles Estimate£74,000 - £83,000 Print details Send this to a friend UK supplied right hand drive example Matching numbers The Jaguar E-Type was initially designed and shown to the public as a grand tourer in two-seater coupé form and as a convertible roadster. The 2+2 version with a lengthened wheelbase was released several years later. The Museum of Modern Art recognised the significance of the Jaguar E-Type's design in 1996 by adding a blue roadster to its permanent design collection, one of only two automobiles to receive the distinction. Open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and taillights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged ‘mouth’ and twin electric fans together with uprated brakes are all hallmarks of Series II cars. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial ‘ribbed’ appearance. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned with rocker switches being substituted for toggle switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted which, purists claim, lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. Manufactured on 8th August 1969 and originally supplied by Henlys, this E-Type Series II Roadster is finished in Signal Red and black leather trim. The seats have recently been retrimmed and the car presents in good solid condition. It appears to have been rustproofed from new and she sits proudly on chrome wire wheels. The engine started immediately when requested and runs with good oil pressure. We are advised she drives with no known faults although the vendor has not used WJB 358H of late. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a host of invoices, together with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming this to be a UK supplied right hand drive, matching numbers example. Offered at a sensible reserve although interested parties should note the paintwork could do with being refreshed at some stage. A good solid example of a highly desirable E-Type.
