Beschreibung:

The Daimler Dart was built in Coventry and launched at the 1959 New York Motor Show achieving great success in the North American market. Built with a fibreglass body, Girling disc brakes all round and a 2.5 litre Hemi-head V8 engine designed by Edward Turner the car was described as a 2+2 but the bench-like rear seat offered very limited leg room unless the front seats were pushed fully forward. Thirty black Daimler Darts with the Borg-Warner Model 8, 3-speed automatic were used by the British Metropolitan Police. Daimler were soon forced to drop the Dart name when threatened with legal action by Chrysler's Dodge division, the car was then re-named the Daimler SP250. Tyler Industrial Mouldings produced the 'BRA 289' kit and launched its Daimler Dart replica onto the kit car market at Stoneleigh. As close to the original car as you are ever going to get, Tyler had been manufacturing replacement parts for original Daimlers for many years and the plan was to make the most of spare manufacturing capacity at the Tyler Industrial Mouldings Medway boat-building factory. Having been selling individual panels for SP250's they produced a full bodyshell using modern GRP technology while using modern donor engines and running gear. The plan was to produce 20 in the first year; however, the company only ever produced one example. Built by William Tyler & Co. in 1997 and supplied complete with the Rover 3.5 V8 engine, this Dart replica is truly a one off and has the documentation to prove it. Finished in burgundy with black leather, this fine example starts on the button and runs, we are told, as if it were new. Supplied with the car is a comprehensive history file including original build receipts and correspondence, newspaper/magazine clippings of the build along with past MoT test certificates and service receipts. Given the running gear and the ample detail supplied with the car, replacing and maintaining this vehicle should be a straightforward process. This tax exempt vehicle comes supplied with a tonneau cover, has 11 months remaining on the MoT test certificate and offers a chance to own and enjoy a unique piece of motoring history.
