1969 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Pagoda Lot Number201 RegistrationMKY 762G Chassis Number11304422006986 Engine Number13098322004357 Odometer reading54,627 miles Estimate£95,000 - £120,000 Print details Send this to a friend Engine rebuilt by Roger Edwards Genuine UK supplied righthand drive car The Mercedes-Benz W113 SL was developed under the auspices of Mercedes-Benz Technical Director Fritz Nallinger, Chief Engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut and Head of Styling Friedrich Geiger. The lead designers were Paul Bracq and Béla Barényi, who created its distinctive, patented, slightly concave hardtop, which inspired the 'Pagoda' nickname. The model was manufactured from 1963 through to 1971 and boasted an in-line straight six cylinder engine with multi-port fuel injection. The larger capacity 2.8 litre was introduced in 1967 and remained largely unchanged until 1971 and represents the most desirable of all the SL range, producing, as it does, more power with an improved five main bearing crankshaft, combined with eminently capable handling and disc brakes all round, making a wonderful driver’s car. This stunning UK supplied righthand drive Mercedes-Benz was first registered on 23rd January 1969. It benefits from having significant investment over recent years; the interior has been trimmed by D.Classics at a cost of £10,000 and the engine rebuilt by the well known and respected Pagoda aficionado Roger Edwards. The blue coachwork has been finished to an exceptionally high standard and the chromework is unblemished; this is a 280 SL Pagoda of the highest quality. The driveability of this car is enhanced by an automatic transmission. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a significant history folder this Mercedes-Benz is owned by a particularly knowledgeable and fastidious vendor who is only selling her due to lack of suitable storage space. Viewing this car in person is highly recommended to fully appreciate the quality.
