The Jaguar D-Type has a very special place in motoring history. As a purpose built race car, its achievements were outstanding, particularly at Le Mans. However, the D-Type's first win was at the Reims 12 hour race in 1954 driven by Ken Wharton and Peter Whitehead. That winning car was registered OKV 3, chassis number XKD 404, and is the car upon which the spirit of this recreation is based. Built by one of the UK's leading Jaguar specialists, Revival Motorsport, RRY 40G has an impressive specification. The 4.2 litre straight six Jaguar engine is fully rebuilt and balanced with a lightened flywheel, triple Weber carburettors, competition electric fuel pump and electronic ignition. The chassis handling is taken care of by all round Gas adjustable shock absorbers with rose jointed and Polybush suspension. The 1954 short nose bobtail design has been recreated, incorporating the single door and screen layout of OKV 3. The coachwork has been finished to the highest standard in a colour that replicates the original along with the painted racing roundels. The exterior detail finishing include, the correct style handles, bonnet straps, wheels and side exit exhaust system.
