Beschreibung:

1965 PORSCHE 911
1965 PORSCHE 911 Chassis No. 302795 Engine No. 902879 Irish green with black and white houndstooth interior Engine: six cylinder, 1,991cc, 130bhp at 6,600rpm; Gearbox: 5 speed manual; Suspension: triangulated front wishbone with MacPherson shocks and struts, independent rear; Brakes: disc all around. Left hand drive. In the early 1950s Porsche designers began working on a new model aimed at replacing the 356. The task, along with a set of guidelines, was given to Ferry Porsche's son Ferdinand. The new Porsche would have to be an evolutionary design and continue in the established Porsche tradition (Dean Bachelor from Illustrated Porsche Buyer's Guide). Under a three man team comprised of Ferdinand Porsche Erwin Komenda and engine designer Ferdinand Piech, the new Porsche was designed and perfected in a remarkably short period of time. Its unveiling took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1963 and was met with great satisfaction and enthusiasm from the public. The new model carried the number 901 and featured a more powerful engine with greater control and handling. In 1965 Porsche transformed the 901, as this production code was a copyright of Peugeot, into the 911. The result was the creation of one of the longest running and most successful sports car models in automobile industry. The car offered here is one of the 235 original 911 short wheel-base examples from 1965. While little of the early history is known, this 911 has been sympathetically restored to driver condition approximately two years ago. Sprayed in the attractive Irish green and trimmed in the desirable black and white houndstooth this 911 has a lovely varnished wood dash and steering wheel. Completed with the correct steel wheels and hubcaps, this car is presented today from a passionate 911 collector who "drives" his cars. Not commonly seen on the auction market, this 1965 911 represents a rare opportunity to acquire the first year of the legendary 911 production run.
