Beschreibung:

The work of Ferry Porsche, the 356 was based on the Volkswagen designed by his father. Introduced in 1949, Porsche’s landmark sportscar would remain in production - regularly revised and updated - well into the 911 era, the final examples being built in 1965. Outwardly very similar to the final 356Bs, the ultimate 356C model arrived in 1963 sporting four-wheel disc brakes - first seen on the 2-litre Carrera 2 - among numerous detail improvements. Engines available - both of 1.6 litres - were the 75bhp 'C' and 95bhp 'SC', the latter replacing the Super 90. Testing a 356C in 1964, Road & Track enthused over its comfort, quality and excellent performance, concluding, “one would look a long time before finding a sports or GT car that offers more pure driving enjoyment.” A right-hand drive model dating from the final year of production, this 356C has the more desirable 95 horsepower ‘SC’ engine. The vehicle was purchased by its late owner in October 1979 from Alexander Medawar, of London. There are numerous invoices on file for renovation including bodyshell and floorpan welding (1981), engine and other mechanicals (1982) and bodywork repair, re-spray and interior re-trim (1990), in total amounting to £7,500. More recently, £4,000 was spent in 1999 at JCT600, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne for work on the dampers, kingpins, clutch carburettors and fuel pump. Also included in the extensive history file are 15 expired MoTs (1976 to date), numerous old tax discs and original 356C driver’s manual/spares catalogue. Finished in silver (originally blue) with black leather interior, the car is presented in good condition throughout and offered with road fund licence to March 2005, MoT to October 2004 and Swansea V5.
