1965 MG B Roadster Lot Number127 RegistrationFNP 766C Chassis NumberGHN355363 Engine Number18GBUH7912 Odometer reading72,729 miles Estimate£10,000 - £14,000 ResultSold - £9,520 Print details Send this to a friend 2 more images Sort after pull door handle model Five main bearing crankshaft engine Recent new seat covers, hood and carpets This car can be viewed in person from 14th to 18th July 2020 at our the auction site, Windsorview Lakes, Datchet, SL3 9HY The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA and was introduced as a four-cylinder roadster with a coupé added in 1965. It was a relatively modern design at the time of its introduction, utilising a monocoque structure instead of the traditional 'body-on-frame' construction used on both the MGA and MG T-types. The lightweight design reduced manufacturing costs while adding to overall vehicle strength. Manual windows were standard and a comfortable driver's compartment offered plenty of legroom. The MGB's performance was considered brisk at the time of its introduction with a 0-60mph time of just over 11 seconds; this was aided by the relatively light weight of the car. Handling was one of MGB's strong points. The three-bearing 1798cc, B-Series engine produced 95bhp at 5,400rpm with the engine upgraded in October 1964 to a five-bearing crankshaft to improve reliability. This 1965 MGB Roadster is a sought after pull-handle model but is one of the rare crossover cars fitted with a five-bearing crank 1800cc engine. This year it has benefitted from further cosmetic work, which includes new leather seat covers, new carpets, hood and the original steel wheels refurbished, the engine was given a full service including replacing the performance K&N air filters and it was also fitted with a new dynamo and regulator. With just four previous owners the car was given a change of colour at the end of 2017 and is now finished in Old English White which complements the black piped in white interior. This Roadster has covered 72,700 miles from new and is supplied with a V5C registration document, a good history file with numerous old invoices and the handbook along with the service book. The car is described by the owner to be in good all-round condition. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day.
