1965 Mercedes-Benz 190c Fintail Lot Number 253 Registration ELA 503C Chassis Number 11001022111990 Engine Number 12192422005863 Odometer reading 55,200 miles Estimate £14,000 - £18,000 Print details Send this to a friend 3 more images We are delighted to present this first series (1961 – 1965), 1965 Mercedes-Benz 190c Heckflosse, or Fintail as it is commonly known. The prominent white coachwork, with its muted fins (they were originally designed to be larger until senior management at Mercedes-Benz ordered them to be revised down) and curvaceous bonnet, is in very good order and is complemented by the contrasting red, tough, and stylish, M-B Tex interior; noted for its comfort, space and vertically designed odometer. In the rear, the occupants also benefit from the additional seat belts, an important safety factor today. On a recent test, the Fintail’s 1897cc four-cylinder petrol engine pulled well with smooth gear changes transmitted through the automatic gearbox whilst the brakes, with discs at the front and drums at the rear, pulled the Mercedes to a reassuring halt; the tester noting that this was a lovely drive. This is a righthand drive example that was first registered in Copthorne, Sussex on 6 th April 1965, to a Mr Herbert Victor White as stated upon the originally issued green style log book of that year. A large history file accompanies the Mercedes and includes records of recent works totalling in the region of £7,500. There are also old MoT test certificates, letters of correspondence and a copy of a recent article featuring this 190c in Classic Mercedes Magazine and we are advised that this Mercedes will arrive at the sale with a fresh MoT test certificate. These classic Mercedes-Benz motor cars are now being recognised in a market where it is becoming ever more difficult to find good examples of a marque at reasonable prices. With comfort and space, especially in view of the enormous boot space, commanding grille and acres of brightwork, we are sure that this Fintail will be sure to find a lucky new owner to enjoy the classic Mercedes experience.
