When the 230 SL was introduced at the 1963 Geneva Motor Show, it ushered in a new era in the storied history of Mercedes-Benz. A fresh, modern shape, spirited performance, Grand Touring comfort, and cutting edge safety were all rolled into one beautiful package with state of the art features like fuel injection, disc brakes, and the innovative removable Pagoda top. They are also regarded as the first sports car to combine a stiff passenger cell with front and rear deformation zones, just like cars built today. The 230 seen here is a handsome example finished in attractive white over blue leather and a navy soft-top. It is a believed two owner Seattle car with just 67,779 original miles, and it shows in very nice condition throughout. The sheet metal appears to be all original with the tell-tale notches inboard of the headlamps present and crisply defined. Included with the car are the original owner’s manual, paperwork from the previous owner’s purchase of the car in Seattle at Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz in 1994, a signed odometer statement, extra keys, W113 articles and information, and an organized notebook with extensive service and maintenance documentation. This SL drives wonderfully and is ready for immediate enjoyment.
