Beschreibung:

1964 FIAT 1500 CABRIOLET Registration No. GGN 164J (UK) Chassis No. 118K 04 3874 Engine No. 4371507 White with brown trim. Engine: four cylinder in-line, overhead valve, 1,995cc, 120bhp at 5,500rpm; Gearbox: five speed manual; Brakes: discs all round; Suspension: front, independent coil springs, wishbones, anti-roll bar; rear, semi-elliptic leaf springs. Left hand drive. Italy in the 1960s was experiencing a period of success which provoked Fiat into replacing their existing 1200 by two new engine sizes, the 1300 and 1500. Demand for an open car was satisfied in 1963 with the launch of the 1500 Cabriolet with coachwork designed by Pininfarina. This aerodynamic body style allowed speeds of up to 100mph. This immaculate example was imported into Germany in 1964 and brought to England by its present owner in 1972. Although resembling the standard 1500 Cabriolet, the original engine has been replaced with a 2-litre Lancia twin overhead camshaft engine with a five-speed manual gearbox. The resultant performance is almost comparable to the Fiat Dino contained in classic early 1960s Italian coachwork. In the early 1980s the car was totally restored by the famous BMW and Bristol specialists, T.T.Workshops with no expense spared and is being offered for sale now at a fraction of the cost of that restoration.
