Royal Enfield’s 250cc Clipper was powered by a four-stroke, single cylinder, overhead valve engine with bore and stroke of 70mm x 64.5mm. This efficient little engine developed 14 1/2bhp at 5,750rpm. Suspension was by telescopic front forks and pivoted rear fork with hydraulic damping. Contemporary advertising boasted low seating position, low petrol consumption and low initial cost and the Clipper was marketed as a ‘safe general purpose machine’. This bike was despatched from the factory on 13th November 1963 – it is a 1964 model with chrome tank, as certified by the Royal Enfield Owners’ Club Dating Certificate. The machine comes with Swansea V5 and V5C documents, sundry restoration invoices and old MoT certificates, old tax discs and some restoration photographs.
