1962 Triumph TR4 Lot Number 181 Registration CSL793 Chassis Number CT6468 Engine Number CT57074E Odometer reading 224 miles Estimate £17,000 - £21,000 Result Sold - £18,480 Print details Send this to a friend Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two-litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Today, the four-cylinder TR's are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists. This delightful Triumph has had a significant amount of time and financial investment carried out on her in recent months by the current vendor. The engine has been rebuilt with new liners and pistons increasing the cubic capacity to 2290cc, the cylinder head has also been converted to run on unleaded fuel. In addition to this, new twin electric fuel pumps and pressure regulator have been fitted and twin ignition coils. A high velocity aluminium radiator has been fitted as well as a aluminium fuel tank, vented front disc brakes and a retro radio. We are advised she drives with no known faults and the overdrive system on the gearbox operates correctly. Having covered approximately 1,000 miles since the rebuild, this TR4 is ready to enjoy immediately. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a full years MoT test certificate with no advisories, together with a Heritage certificate and a history folder, this realistically priced Triumph is a very well sorted example.
